3rd Annual Native High School Player of the Year Award

The Tewaaraton Foundation is pleased to announce the Third Annual Native High School Player of the Year Award and University Club Foundation Scholarship. The award will go to one Native male and one Native female lacrosse player as nominated by high school coaches across the Nation. On May 29th, 2008, the winners will be invited to attend the Tewaaraton Banquet to accept the award in Washington, DC.

To qualify, the nominees must prove tribal heritage, display excellent lacrosse and leadership skills and be in good academic standing at a secondary school. Additionally, nominees are asked to articulate what lacrosse means to them as a Native American player. Since one of the primary goals of the Tewaaraton Award Foundation is to honor the sport’s Native American roots, the selection committee will weigh this aspect of the application very heavily.

A separate male and female selection committee will complete the process by reviewing the nominees and electing a winner. The committees are composed of past Tewaaraton Trophy winners, retired college lacrosse coaches, Native coaches, and other volunteers
.

See the Native form and instrutions on the previous page to apply.
