Syracuse sophomore attackman Michael Powell and Georgetown senior midfielder Erin Elbe are the recipients of the 2002 Tewaaraton Trophies, recognizing them as the most outstanding lacrosse players in the nation.

Powell helped lead Syracuse to a 15-2 record and a national championship. He led the nation and the Orangemen in scoring with 42 goals and 42 assists and was a first-team All-American.

He was chosen from five finalists, including fellow Syracuse attackman, senior Josh Coffman, Georgetown senior attackman Steve Dusseau, Virginia senior attackman Conor Gill, and Duke junior midfielder Kevin Cassese.

Elbe helped lead Georgetown to the national title game and the school's first #1 ranking during the 2002 season. She led the Hoyas in scoring with 58 goals and 23 assists.

She beat out fellow finalists, Princeton senior defender Rachael Becker, Virginia senior midfielder Lauren Aumiller, Virginia senior defender Tiffany Schummer, and North Carolina senior midfielder Christine McPike.
